it's all about the animals

How to Help

It took us well over 4 years to see Lucky's Place Shelter to become a reality. We presently are adopting out approximately 300 dogs and cats every year. Our shelter gives immediate relief to homeless pets and allows us to assist more abused and unwanted pets find forever homes.  We are a no kill shelter, so we will need some foster homes for hospice pets so they can be taken care of if we can not find them a home of their own.  Lucky’s Place is named after a beloved pet and it honors our first benefactor who helped get this all started.

SPECIAL NEEDS PETS From time to time we have Special Needs Pets that need either a forever home or maybe even a temporary foster home. Some of these pets may be blind, recuperating from a surgery, be needing to be bottle fed like tiny kittens or puppies or have other needs or handicaps.  These are usually sweet, loving and grateful pets that just need a chance. Contact us at (307) 883-PETS, info@ahasv.org or stop by the shelter on Saturdays and talk with one of our Directors if you would like to help out. Some animals do not do well in captivity and just need to be in a home setting.

LUCKY’S PLACE  Our shelter is at the entrance to the Thayne Landfill on Strawberry Creek  Rd.  We are still in need of monies for the operation of the shelter, to purchase food, litter and other supplies. We are doing everything we can to stir up donations. Any ideas or suggestions on ways to raise monies are sincerely appreciated.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Lucky’s Place is NOT county owned or operated shelter. The shelter has been built by all donated funds and run by all volunteers. If you would like to be part of the AHA Team and have time to volunteer to help do cleaning, feeding, grooming, walking the dogs, socializing the animals, etc. We and the animals would sincerely appreciate it! Volunteers need to be 16 years of age unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
